Press Release No. 27: Vietnam authority wrongly accused the VNPP

Press Release No. 27 - Date 04/29/2010
-- For Immediate Release --
RE: Vietnam authority arrested Ms. Pham Thi Phuong and labeled the Vietnam Populist Party as a terrorist organization
Houston, TX - VNPP's Liaison Office -- On 04/28/2010, the state run media newspapers in Vietnam widely reported that Pham Thi Phuong (born in 1945) was arrested and accused the Vietnam Populist Party (VNPP) for planning a terrorist attack during the holidays on April 30th, 2010.
Due to the wrongful accusation, we at the Liaison Office of Vietnam Populist Party assert that:
- The policy of the Vietnam Populist Party is campaigning fiercely to create conditions to accelerate the process of the democratization of Vietnam, by pressuring the Communist Party to accept A Free and Fair National General Election in order to end all major threats to Vietnam. All effort of the VNPP was, is and will aim to rescue the country from invasion, and free the people from dictatorship, corruption, and injustice.
- The immediate objective of the VNPP is to prevent exploitation by the Chinese government in the Central Highlands, and to warn all of the economic sectors which brutally exploited labor from poor workers. We, the VNPP hereby deny and strongly denounce Vietnam authorities for intentionally labeling VNPP as a terrorist organization that plans to kill innocent people.
- The VNPP has absolutely NO policy of revenging, or creating political pressure by terrorist acts in order to hurt people, including: officials, police or soldiers. The government's accusation is unfounded and it is clearly for the purpose of undermining the prestige of the Vietnam Populist Party.
- The VNPP has absolutely no organizational coordination and/or cooperation with the following individuals and organizations regarding this case, such as: Fr. Nguyen Huu Le, Mr. Tran Quoc Bao, Mr. Do Thanh Cong, and Mr. Nguyen Huu Chanh.
- The VNPP condemns all forms of corporal punishment and use of force by Vietnam's security agencies in the cases of Ms. Pham Thi Phuong and other members of the organizations who are being held.
We will monitor and keep the public informed about the case.
We would suggest that the media and newspapers in Vietnam try to maintain honesty and objectivity in the dissemination of information to preserve the reputation and integrity of the writers.
We call for sympathy and support from all the Vietnamese people living inside the country as well as abroad.
Best Regards,
Nguyen, Cong-Bang
Secretary General of the VNPP
